The pattern book states:
'Tourn[a]y Orleans sprigs Printed Col'd & Gilt. NP/8206. H/4625 is exact as H/4633 only China. NP/8206.'
(Pattern H/4633: 'Tournay New CC Marone printed Sprays Col'd on glaze. Gold edge Burn[ished]. NP/8208.')
It appears that an NP/xxxx number was given to a new pattern under assessment, and it was given a number in the normal series when accepted. Occasionally a piece turns up with an NP/xxxx number on it. Presumably these were from services created for assessment.
