Cauldon Place Works
Polygonal Table and Tea shapes

I have grouped the following shapes together as they are superficially similar but each has a different number of sides. Also they all appear to date fom the 1840s.

John Ridgway & Co.

"University"

'Doria'

"Aladdin"

"Delaware"

Pattern 6161 "Chusan"

"University"

The view appears to be of the west front of Christ Church, Oxford, but the landscape it is set in is a fantasy. In reality a busy city street runs along this front of the college.

The decagonal dessert plate is 244mm in diameter. Earthenware.

"Aladdin"

An example of this print has been drawn to my attention on a T. C. Brown-Westhead, Moore, & Co. 'Portman' shape plate. This is clearly a later reissue of the pattern.

The 14-sided dinner plate is 10.75 inches in diameter. Earthenware.
