"E Kennard" bird and fish series ~ blue

This series is better known with outline prints coloured in, but it appears they also did this blue and white version.

The dessert plate is 234mm in diameter. Earthenware.

The bird is a lapwing or peewit, a member of the plover family.

As well as the series backstamp and a figure "6" representing the number in the series, there is a printed "S", an impressed registration diamond for 23 January 1875, parcel 9, and an impressed T. C. BROWN-WESTHEAD / MOORE & CO.

"Pomona" ~ blue

Pomona was the Roman goddess of fruitful abundance. Although primarily concerned with orchard fruit, she could be considered to have sweet chestnuts under her care as well.

The dinner plate is 262mm in diameter. Earthenware.

As well as the pattern backstamp and a painted tally mark, there is an impressed CAULDON, a faint impressed registration diamond that appears to be for 26 May 1875, parcel 6, an impressed M, and a couple of other impressed marks of unknown purpose.
